The Jefferson County EMA released a list of 26 warming shelters in the surrounding area for motorists who are stranded on the roads due to the winter storm.

"Roadways in Jefferson County are extremely hazardous, and citizens are advised to seek the closest place of safety and warmth," the EMA said in a release.

    CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. -- The sentencing of a former Thorsby High School teacher who pleaded guilty to rape and sodomy charges was delayed Thursday until August 7.Chilton County Circuit Court Judge John Bush made the decision after prosecutors filed a motion, claiming that, in May, McNeill posted a Facebook post that was "inconsistent with her guilty plea."
