A trio of suspected 4-wheeler thieves saw their wild joy ride come to a swift end Wednesday thanks to some help from the sky in the form of a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office chopper.

According to Lt. Andy Norris, three men -- 26-year-old Jeremy Wayne Porter,
29-year-old Adam David Wells and 43-year-old Bryan Heath Cain -- were arrested shortly after stealing a 4-wheeler from a home in the 10000 block of Chandlers Crossing.

The sheriff's office helicopter, which was already in flight assisting deputies monitoring area road conditions, was called into action after the victim reported the ATV stolen. A short time later, pilots spotted the three suspects traveling north on Interstate 59 and began relaying the their location to responding deputies.

The three men were spotted on the stolen 4-wheeler exiting onto Covered Bridge Road by a Coaling police officer, who attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspects' refused, prompting a brief chase that ended near Carl Walker Road, where one of the men fled while the other two remained stopped in their tracks.

The fleeing suspect was again located by chopper pilots and moments later deputies apprehended the man.

All three suspects are charged with first-degree theft of property and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $30,000 bonds.

The stolen 4-wheeler was returned to its owner.
