A former home health care aide was arrested Friday on charges she stole more than $20,000 in property from an elderly Lebanon County couple.
Rosa L. Espenshade, 37, of Myerstown, is accused of selling jewelry, silver bars, coins, sterling silver flatware and other items that belonged to the Cornwall Manor couple at pawn shops, according to Cornwall police.
Many of the stolen items were family heirlooms that had been handed down through
generations and could not be
recovered, police said.
Espenshade was charged with 15 counts of theft by unlawful taking for incidents that occurred between November 2011 and September 2012.
Police said she was hired by the couple through Just Like Family, a provider of home health care services, which as cooperated fully in the investigation.
