Nor'Easter Develops Later This Week

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Nor'Easter will be brewing towards midweek as it develops over the Gulf waters and begins the journey up the coast. We have plenty of cold air so there is no concern for mixing for us, just plain snow.

As with most Nor'Easters, the coastal states from North Carolina to Maine will be hit with heavy snow. Farther inland is always the most difficult of locations when predicting snow amounts. A significant drop off in snow is bound to happen, which is normally over our viewing area. This means some us may not experience much of an impact, and others (especially closer to the coast) could see the biggest snow so far this season.

We have a growing confidence for York and Lancaster to receive heavy snow due to the proximity to the storm. It becomes a nail-biter when trying to predict where the drop off of snow will occur farther west.

You may be hearing varying snowfall predictions already, but I am concerned given the usual inconsistencies of Nor'Easters as they waffle along the coast. We want to see the initial development of this storm before making projections for snowfall totals, so look for our initial call within the next 24 hours.
