Storm winds down, icy roads remain

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Many areas picked up a significant sleet accumulation overnight with little to no snow south of Harrisburg.

North and west of Harrisburg there was several inches of snow through the overnight and early morning hours.

Numerous problems remain despite the precipitation winding down. Many areas received 0.50" ice and that contributed to downed trees, power lines, and messy roadways.

Looking ahead, temperatures will continue to warm up through the morning allowing some melting so that road and power crews can work on these issues through the rest of the day.

The evening commute should feature a big improvement compared with this morning. Prepare for yet another refreeze tonight into Thursday morning.

The rest of the week brings cold but sunny conditions with highs in the 20s.

The highly-talked-about weekend storm continues to bounce around in the forecast models. The latest keeps a chance of snow for Sunday. It looks rather disorganized at the moment, but we'll continue to monitor.
