-----------

Elliston, VA - A man who deputies believe attempted to rob a store in Montgomery County Tuesday morning was caught on I-81.

The trouble caused a backup on the southbound section of interstate, near mile marker 127, for more than 90 minutes.

According to the victim, Cindy Turner, the suspect, dressed in a hoody and ball cap, came into the Elliston Food Mart and ordered her to give him money.

"I thought he was joking at first. He said, 'They are making me do this. You have to give me all the money.' And I said, 'You gotta be kidding me?'. And that's when he came around behind the counter and said, 'You have to give me all the money'," said Turner.

The suspect then pushed the clerk out of the way to try himself which gave her the chance to run out of the store.

The Frito delivery man was outside and together they called 911.

We are told there will be more information on this case released later today.

We'll have an update coming up later on ABC 13 News and on wset.com.
