Arrest Made in Vinton Rape, Stabbing

Vinton, VA – The suspect in a stabbing and rape has been apprehended in Bedford County, and indicted by the U.S. Marshal Service, Vinton Police say.

Police say they got a call from a local hospital about an adult female in the emergency room suffering from a stab wound. The victim said she had also been raped.

Police obtained warrants on Jeremy Dean Bailey, 30, for malicious wounding and rape.

Due to the nature of the incident, the Roanoke County SWAT team was contacted to help locate Bailey along with the U.S. Marshal Service.

Bailey was found in Bedford County early Tuesday afternoon and taken into custody without incident.
