Wintergreen Resort is Up for Sale

Wintergreen, VA - Wintergreen Resort's general manager has confirmed, the four-star ski resort is back on the real estate market.

This comes just two years after it was taken over by James C. Justice Companies.

The news has surprised many people in Nelson County. Before Wintergreen got a chance to announce it was up for sale, people saw it advertised online.

According to Jones Lang and LaSalle, a commerical real estate agency, all 11,000 acres of the resort is up for grabs. That includes the ski slopes, two golf courses and a handful of restaurants.

The General Manager, Hank Theiss, couldn't talk specifics about the sale, but says this has nothing to do with poor business. He says the resort's had two fantastic ski seasons and you sell a business when it's starting to thrive.

West Virginia billionaire Jim Justice reportedly paid $16.5 million for the resort in 2012.

Theiss says since then, they've invested $12 million in upgrades. Some of those upgrades allowed them to extend the ski season into April of last year.

Wintergreen's listing does not include an asking price. Interested parties must fill out a confidentiality agreement online and return it to the real estate agency.
