Andrew Scott Szivos, 32, slapped the woman while she was sleeping and then struck her about the face with a closed fist Thursday in the 3600 block of Brookridge Terrace, Susquehanna Township police said.

He then choked the woman from behind until she was able to grab the scissors, police said.

Szivos was cut on the arm and was treated at a hospital and released. The woman suffered swelling to her eye and face and was also treated at a hospital and released, police said.

Szivos was arrested for aggravated assault and placed in Dauphin County Prison on $5,000 bail.
