GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A former Harrisburg man has admitted to killing an Adams County woman and her teenage daughter more than 33 years ago.

Erasmo "Junior" Cruz, 57, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of third-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Nancy Patterson and her 17-year-old daughter Deborah in Freedom Township.

As part of a plea agreement, Cruz received a sentence of 16 to 40 years in state prison, according to Adams County District Attorney Shawn Wagner.

Authorities say Cruz during the early morning of August 30, 1980 threw Molotov cocktails into the Patterson home after Deborah Patterson ended their romantic relationship.

Deborah Patterson was shot in the face and her mother was shot in the back as they ran from the home.

In 2010, investigators uncovered evidence linking Cruz to the crime. He was arrested in Puerto Rico in August 2012.
