LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Legislation that would name a section of Route 23 in honor of a fallen Lancaster County soldier is headed to the desk of Governor Tom Corbett.

House Bill 1599 will designate Route 23, from the intersection of Ivy Drive to the intersection of Prospect Road, as the SFC Brent Adams Memorial Road.

Adams, a native of West Hempfield Township, was a member of the Army National Guard's 2nd Brigade Combat Team and was killed in action while serving in Iraq in 2005.

He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for almost 18 years and was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
