RONKS, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police arrested a 22-year-old Ronks man following an investigation into a Lancaster County shooting that killed a horse pulling an Amish buggy in November 2013.

According to officials, a buggy carrying five passengers was traveling north in the 100 block of North Ronks Road at around 9 p.m. on November 25 when a car passed by.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud noise that sounded like a firecracker; the car did not stop.

When the buggy arrived home at a farm approximately one mile away, it was discovered that the horse was bleeding from the mouth. A veterinarian was called, but the horse died before the vet was able to arrive.

A bullet hole was discovered on the left-hand side of the horse's chest area. None of the buggy passengers were injured.

An investigation was conducted by East Lampeter Township police, and on February 12, 2014, 22-year-old Timothy Antonio Diggs, Jr. of Ronks was charged. His charges include recklessly endangering another person and cruelty to animals.

Diggs is currently incarcerated in the Lancaster County Prison as a result of a search warrant that was executed at his home on December 2, 2013.

During their search, investigators found stolen firearms as well as a stolen motorcycle from two separate burglaries in East Lampeter Township and Upper Leacock Township.

Anyone with information relating to the this case is asked to contact detectives at 717-291-4676 extension 3127.
