Roanoke, VA - The snow in the Roanoke Valley started falling right on time, around 2 p.m. and within just a half hour things really started getting bad.
The slick conditions, especially on hills and bridges, made things very slow.
Those that waited for the snow to leave work in downtown Roanoke found themselves waiting for real, as the lines leaving the city had traffic creeping along.
The drive home was definitely on people's minds.
"We're all afraid of all these people that can't drive can do to you. People drive to fast. Yeah... better to be home in weather like this," said Dinah Morris who tried to beat the rush.
Major accidents on I-81 through the afternoon were also reported in Botetourt, Roanoke Montgomery and Pulaski Counties causing long delays there; especially southbound.
