Light snow arrives late Monday night

Posted: Updated:
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

For once we saw a little snow on Sunday that didn't pile up on the roads and sidewalks. Just a few flurries and snow showers were reported across Central PA. Skies will once again clear overnight and allow temperatures to dip back into the teens. Some of the colder locations may flirt with single digits by early Monday morning.

Average nighttime temperatures this time of year should drop into the middle 20s. It won't be record-breaking, but with a deep snowpack across the region, unseasonably cold conditions win out!

Monday we start off sunny with clouds returning by evening. Temperatures will barely get to 30 under fading sunshine.

It looks like another batch of light snow will arrive in Central PA late Monday night. A several hour period of light snow will put down a general 1-3" of snowfall right through the morning commute on Tuesday. The snow should start around midnight, and be out by noon. Expect some slippery travel in the morning hours before temperatures jump up to near 40 by afternoon.

Beyond that it is rain and not snow in the forecast for the latter part of the week. The best chance looks to be on Friday morning as temperatures jump up into the lower 50s with a warm surge of air. By the weekend temperatures ramp back down into the 40s with the chance of some more rain (or possibly snow) later Saturday night.
