Man faces 10-20 years in 2nd strike home burglary

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Harrisburg man faces up to 20 years in prison for the attempted burglary of an occupied home in the city.

Juan M. Villanueva, 58, was convicted after a bench trial this week before Dauphin County Judge Andrew Dowling.

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said that because Villanueva's extensive criminal history includes a prior burglary of an occupied residence, a mandatory sentence of 10-20 years of imprisonment applies.

Villanueva had served 12 years for burglary and robbery and was released from the Camp Hill state prison just three months before the burglary Sept. 30 in the 2100 block of Bellevue Road, Marsico said.

He is awaiting an April 3 sentencing date in the Dauphin County Prison.
