Craigslist killing suspect claims 22 others

SUNBURY, Pa. (WHTM) -

Miranda Barbour has admitted during a prison interview with a Sunbury newspaper reporter that she and husband Elytte Barbour killed a man they met through Craigslist.

They are accused of killing 42-year-old Troy LaFerrara in late 2013.

Police found LaFerrara's body in the backyard of a home in Sunbury. He had been strangled and stabbed 20 times. Investigators say the couple wanted to kill someone together.

Miranda, who turned 19 in prison, told reporter Francis Scarcella during an interview at the Northumberland County Prison on Valentine's Day that she previously killed at least 22 people across the country as part of her involvement in a satanic cult.

She told Scarcella that she started killing people when she was 13, and that the murders took place in several states including Alaska and North Carolina.

Scarcella says he wanted to give Barbour a chance to tell her story, and he was taken back by how the interview ended.

"The biggest thing that stuck out to me, she said she wanted to stay in prison because if she didn't she would do it again," Scarcella said.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Barber and her husband.

Federal investigators are looking into Barbers's claims of other killings.
