TUSCALOOA COUNTY - AL -

Tuscaloosa police have arrested 21-year-old Demetrius Hart.

Officers were notified of possible fake money received at the Texaco gas station on Greensboro Avenue Sunday. Officers spoke with a cashier who said the customer who gave him the fake money was still inside the store. Officers approached the customer and asking him about the possibility of the money being fake. The customer later identified as Hart gave officers a false name. Officers arrested the suspect for giving a false name to a law enforcement officer. The suspect was taken to the police department for processing. When officers open the door to let Hart out of the vehicle, they smelled a very strong odor of marijuana coming from the back seat area. Officers located a ziplock bag containing 8 grams of marijuana beside his feet. The patrol car was search and the suspect was taken to the Tuscaloosa County jail.

The investigation concerning the counterfeit money is still ongoing. Hart is facing one count of giving false name and one count possession of marijuana.
