Diocese announces installation plans for Bishop Gainer

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Two services will mark the Installation of Bishop Ronald Gainer as the 11th Bishop of Harrisburg, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg announced Friday.

A Solemn Vespers service will be held Tuesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, at 6150 Allentown Blvd. in Harrisburg.

The Mass of Installation will take place on Wednesday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral, at 212 State Street in Harrisburg.

The Vespers service will be open to the public and will provide an opportunity for faithful to pray with Bishop Gainer. It is expected that the service will be streamed live on the Diocesan website, www.hbgdiocese.org, according to a news release.

The Mass will be a ticketed event.

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, Archbishop of Philadelphia will preside over the Installation. Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, the Papal representative to the United States, along with numerous Catholic bishops and clergy from around the country are also expected to take part, the news release stated.

Plans for a live television, radio and web broadcast of the installation are being developed, and prayer resources for both services are expected to be available on the Diocesan website for download, according to the news release.
