Woman escapes injury in partial house collapse

GARDNERS, Pa. (WHTM) -

An elderly woman escaped injury when part of her Adams County home collapsed under the buildup of snow, ice and rain.

Firefighters rescued the woman from the home at 3521 Carlisle Road in Huntington Township at around 10 a.m.

"They had to lay down a ladder with a plank across to get her out," said Guf Fridenvalds, a building codes official. "They got her out, and her dog, and her medications. She's with a relative right now."

A township official said there is evidence the walls of the home were deteriorated and the roof was already in bad shape.
