NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police say a Cumberland County man hit a police cruiser on Friday night while driving drunk.

On Friday, at around 7:30 p.m., a West Shore Regional Police cruiser was struck by a red 2013 Kia sedan in the 600 block of Market Street.

The driver, 39-year-old Todd Michael Younkin of the 700 block of Coolidge Street in New Cumberland, pulled over to the side of the road. However when the officer got out and approached the car, Younkin drove away from the scene.

West Shore Regional Police pursued Younkin, and he was stopped in the 1200 block of Market Street. Younkin exhibited signs of intoxication and was taken into custody.

After submitting to a blood test, Younkin was taken to Cumberland County Prison for processing.

Younkin faces DUI and hit-and-run charges.

West Shore Regional Police were assisted in this incident by the Camp Hill Borough Police.
