Lynchburg Mayor Makes State of the City Address


Lynchburg, VA - Monday night, Lynchburg Mayor Mike Gillette issued his, state of the city address. The annual event highlighted some of the city's biggest accomplishments over the last year.

Gillette shared his appreciation for council's approval to build a new Heritage High School. He also applauded the city's continued efforts to focus on their comprehensive plan.

Vice Mayor Ceasor Johnson talked about the steady growth in the private sector of the city; specifically, increased business traffic downtown.

Johnson also had a recap of the city's financial outlook, "The City of Lynchburg's financial outlook is stable, due to several factors, including the stability of the city's economy, its budgetary flexibility and performance, and the city's strong financial management and practices" he said.

The night also included a series of awards issued; the Mayor's award of Excellence, and the Vice Mayor's Young Adult Award of Excellence.
