HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Governor Tom Corbett acknowledged the hard work by past and present city officials to get a recovery plan in motion to help Harrisburg get on the financial road to recovery.

Governor Corbett talked about the impact former Mayor Linda Thompson had on the process and the importance of the leadership of Mayor Papenfuse to keep the plan moving forward.

"This is a process that allowed our capitol city to reform its finances," said Corbett, "and streamline its operations in building a stronger framework to move forward in the 21st century."

Mayor Eric Papenfuse says they city is on much stronger ground than when Linda Thompson took office, and his administration will continue to work with the Commonwealth to move the recovery process along.

Harrisburg is the first city in Pennsylvania to complete the process, and Mayor Papenfuse says he hopes to be out of Act 47 by the end of his first term.
