It's every bride's (and groom's) worst nightmare: losing your venue two weeks before your wedding date, but that's exactly what happened to Thomas and Lasheba Cunningham of Harrisburg.
Lasheba remembers calling her best friend and sister when she initially found out.
"I'm like 'Girl, I just want to marry my fiance. I don't care if we do it in the back seat of my car -- heck, we can do it at the food court at the Harrisburg East Mall'," she said.
After failing to secure an affordable venue -- and the clock ticking down to February 22 -- Lasheba decided to call the general manager of the mall.
"He said 'It sounds like a great idea, let me run it past the general manager, but I'm excited -- it sounds good'," she said. "We had it between the food court and the movie theater but it was beautiful. They put seating out for us and they hired a pianist for us and he played really good music."
The Cunningham's say they're not concerned with folks on Facebook who may poke fun at their unique idea because it saved money and to them, in the end, was picture perfect.
"I just want them to know that the place wasn't important," Lasheba said. "It was the fact that I married him and I could have married him anywhere."
"I got who I want, I love her, she loves me," Thomas said. "I'm happy, it doesn't even matter."
The couple said they are too busy right now to take a honeymoon, but are saving up to take a cruise later this year.
