Three big events scheduled for Downtown Birmingham

REV Birmingham is announcing three events to promote Downtown.

First of all, REV's 2nd Annual Cool Spaces Downtown Places presented by Appleseed Workshop kicks off on Saturday from 1pm-5pm. This self-guided walking tour offers an inside look at some of the coolest live, work and play in the Birmingham metro area.

Secondly, the 2nd Saturday 2nd Avenue Sidewalk Sale is back for 2nd Year. The merchants of 2nd Avenue North will be back on the sidewalks for the 2014 version of this popular downtown happening, It will take place the second Saturday of every month from April to September. Come down to the 2300 block of 2nd Avenue North from 10am-2pm for the kick-off on April 12th. Browse vintage oddities, purchase locally-made artwork and clothing, and grab a cup of coffee. The event promotes local businesses and raises money for public improvement projects in the Second Avenue North entertainment and loft district.

And finally, Revolution, It's a Bicycle Parade and Festival celebrating everything awesome about bicycles and the arts. The festival kicks off on May 10, 12 noon on the plaza at McWane Science Center and will run in conjunction with the Cool Spaces Loft Tour. You are invited to come out, decorate your bikes. wear far-out costumes and join the parade.The event includes contests and prizes, a gear and swap meet, music, food and entertaining booths relevant to art, cycling and quality of life.

    Around 11:30 Monday morning deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 5200block of Highland Trace Circle in Pinson. A 14 year old girl and her 9 year old brother were home alone when a manthey did not know began breaking in to their house.
