Police: No abduction attempt in Lancaster Township

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

UPDATE: Police said after investigating the report of an attempted abduction near Buchanan Elementary School in Lancaster Township, they have determined the attempted abduction did not occur and there will be no further investigation. 

 


 

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: Police are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction that occurred this morning near Buchanan Elementary School in Lancaster Township.

Manheim Township police said an 11-year-old girl told them she was walking to school on South West End Avenue near Prangley Avenue when a man grabbed her and tried to drag her into a white van.

The girl said she was able to break free and run to the school, where she notified officials who contacted police.

She was not harmed, police said.

She described the suspect as an "older" white or Hispanic male with a long gray beard, wearing a green beanie and a green jacket, police said.

The vehicle, she said, is a white work-type van with no markings and a dark or gray roof rack and shiny hubcaps, according to investigators.
