Feds indict Lancaster men for bank robbery

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Federal prosecutors have announced charges against two Lancaster men who allegedly robbed a Berks County bank at gunpoint last year.

Matthew Hill, 29, and Kyle Costello, 27, are accused in the robbery of the National Penn Bank in Cumru Township on Nov. 7, according to U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Both were charged with conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery, armed bank robbery, carrying and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and aiding and abetting.

Hill is also charged with the attempted robbery of the Susquehanna Bank on E. Market Street in York Dec. 6.

If convicted, the two face a maximum possible sentence of life in prison, with a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years consecutive to any other sentence imposed, and a fine of up to $1 million.
