A well-known Carlisle attorney under investigation for mishandling client funds issued an audio statement Saturday, addressing his "wrongdoing."
"It is with a heavy heart and great humility that I make this statement to the public," Karl Rominger said in a statement released on his Facebook page. "Many of you have contacted me to find out what is going. In short, I initiated an investigation against myself and am cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities to see this investigation through. I will do everything in my power to help those that I've wronged and to make whole any loss that I've created. With that in mind, I just ask that you pray for those I've wronged and you pray for my family. When I'm able to give more information, I will. But rest assured, I am cooperating fully and working hard at the moment."
Rominger, who was one of Jerry Sandusky's attorneys in his child sexual abuse trial, will have to answer for at least $150,000 in client funds, according to Cumberland County District Attorney Dave Freed.
Freed said Rominger's attorney came to him first thing Thursday because Rominger knew there was going to be a court proceeding later that morning where he was going to have to answer to client money that he didn't have.
According to legal paperwork obtained by abc27, the investigation began with a divorce case and $60,000 Rominger owed the attorney of the other spouse as part of a settlement.
Rominger's attorney, Bill Costopoulos, did not want to comment at this time.
