NEW HOLLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police have arrested a man who allegedly stole more than $1,500 in change from a New Holland resident who had given him a place to stay.

Troy Hickey, 24, and unknown woman cashed in three large containers of coins at the Ephrata Walmart on March 9, New Holland police said.

Police said the money was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Diller Avenue, and store cameras recorded Hickey and the woman as they cashed in the coins.

The victim told officers he was allowing Hickey to live with him for the last week, police said.

Hickey was charged with theft and committed to Lancaster County Prison on $40,000 cash bail and a detainer from Lancaster County Adult Probation.
