During a meeting Tuesday evening, Capital Area Transit's Board of Directors passed an interim contract agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1436.
The agreement still needs to be voted on by members of the bus drivers' union. There's no word yet when that will happen.
The deal includes elaborated language on driver absenteeism and discipline. The agreement also includes a 2 percent wage increase that would boost pay to $25.30 an hour retroactively from January 1, 2014. The agreement would last until June 30, 2014.
During the recent contract dispute, several CAT routes were canceled or delayed, leaving riders frustrated.
The deal could also mean a fare hike, although CAT officials said one was already in the works.
"The reality of it is we are overdue for a fare increase anyhow," said CAT General Manager Bill Jones.
