Police believe they have solved the disappearance of Rabihan Seiders, a Cumberland County woman who disappeared nearly two years ago.
"We believe we know what happened to her. We believe that she died and we believe we know who did that," Silver Spring police Superintendent Richard Hammon said Thursday.
Police have turned over their findings to the district attorney's office, who will determine whether investigators have enough evidence to file charges.
"I am not going to name any suspects or who we are looking at, only say there is one suspect," Hammon said.
Seiders was 53 when she went missing on the evening of March 27, 2012. Police have said she spent much of her time at her condominium in Ventnor City, New Jersey, but her last known whereabouts are in the Mechanicsburg area.
The FBI has been assisting police with the investigation and helped officers search Seiders' home in the 100 block of Willow Mill Park Road four months after she went missing.
"We completed searches of the house, sent all the materials to the FBI laboratory. We believe we've come to a point where our investigation is done," Hammon said. "I can say that I've never seen anything like this. It's very complex and I understand from the district attorney's standpoint it needs to be looked at extremely carefully."
Police still want to hear from anyone who has information on Seiders' activities during the time leading up to her disappearance.
"We are very interested in what happened in the weeks, maybe the days prior, what she was doing, who she was with," Hammon said.
