Police have filed charges against a Lower Allen Township woman in a hit-and-run crash that injured a man along Route 11/15 in Enola earlier this year.
Shannon K. Perlman, 28, was charged with a felony count of accidents involving death or personal injury and four summary violations including duty to give information and render aid, East Pennsboro Township police said.
Police said they identified Perlman as the driver who struck a 22-year-old man while he was walking with a friend on the night of Jan. 28.
The driver did not stop, but police said they found a piece of the vehicle at the scene and determined it came from a Kia Sorrento.
About an hour after the incident, Perlman reported that her Kia Sorrento was damaged while she was visiting a home in East Pennsboro Township.
Police said they went to Perlman's home and confirmed her Kia was the striking vehicle.
Perlman told officers she was looking at a text message on her phone at the time of the accident and thought she struck a construction barrel, police said.
The victim, who is from the Philadelphia area, was treated at Penn State Hershey Medical Center for serious fractures in his face and shoulder, police said. He has since been released.
