Plans for a new stadium on Harrisburg's City Island will be announced this week.
The city-owned Skyline Sports Complex, the home stadium of the Harrisburg City Islanders professional soccer club, will become a multi-use soccer field, youth development center and concert arena, according to a city news release.
Stadium upgrades will include seating for more than 4,500 people, a new entrance plaza, a new concession area, locker rooms, restroom facilities and a new scoreboard, the release stated.
The new facility is planned for 2016.
Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse, the Dauphin County Commissioners and the City Islanders Pro Soccer and Youth Academy will announce the stadium plans during a news conference Thursday morning.
