The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission wants to give electricity customers the ability to make a quick switch of their suppliers.
More than 12,000 people with variable rate plans have complained of sky-high power bills this winter, and among their gripes is that under current regulations it takes up to 40 days to change their supplier.
"The commission is frustrated with it. We know consumers are frustrated with it," PUC spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher said. "What we want to do is shorten that to three days or less."
People who wish to weigh in on the proposed regulatory change have seven days to submit comments at the PUC's website, www.puc.pa.gov.
