GETTYSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Maryland man has been arrested for robbing a Gettysburg outlet store a day before he was reported missing, according to state police.

Michael Allen Redmond, 54, of Union Bridge, Md., is accused of robbing the Book Warehouse at the Outlets of Gettysburg as the store was closing March 9, police said.

Redmond had what appeared to be a handgun when he demanded money from a clerk and then fled with cash from the register drawer, police said.

Police said the following day they were contacted by the Carroll County, Maryland sheriff's department to assist in the search for Redmond, who had been reported missing by his financee and was known to frequent the Littlestown and Gettysburg areas.

Redmond's description matched that of the robbery suspect, and he admitted to the heist after he was found Monday in Carroll County, police said.

Redmond was charged with robbery, simple assault and theft. He is being held without bond pending his extradition to Pennsylvania.
