Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Parks and Recreation department has started soliciting proposals to take over the operations of the College Hill Community Center.
The facility has been in operation for more than 25 years on Jackson Street in Lynchburg.
This week, City officials released an 8 page proposal, as they look for a non-profit organization to take over the operations, staffing, and programs of the center. In the proposal, the City cites potential budget restrictions as the reason for the solicitations.
Local resident Maranda Payne was out with several children, and commented on how the children love having the center as a part of the community. Referencing the children Maranda was with, she said "We come down here often... We come in here, she played on the pool table.. she loved it."
The request states that any non-profits plan must continue to promote health, education, and active lifestyles, as well as aligning with the City's sustainable neighborhood initiatives.
Proposals can be submitted by non-profit organizations through April 10th.
