A Midstate pastor who was defrocked after officiating his son's same-sex wedding, and then announcing that he would continue to advocate for same-sex rights, will have the opportunity to appeal.
According to the United Methodist Church News Service, a church panel will hear the appeal from Pastor Frank Schaefer of Lebanon County.
Schaefer was defrocked last December after presiding over his son's same-sex wedding back in 2007 in Massachusetts, where gay marriages are legal.
Schaefer told the news service he hopes to have his clergy credentials returned.
The date for that appeal has been set for June 20.
