NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

A York County woman has been arrested for defrauding a couple who wanted her to be a surrogate mother.

Fairview Township police said they charged 36-year-old Christina Lee Jensen with forgery, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and unlawful use of a computer.

The Maryland couple went to authorities in August 2012 when they believed Jensen had victimized them since May 2011 while they were engaged in a gestational carrier/surrogacy agreement, police said.

A 17-month investigation revealed Jensen had fabricated legal contracts, receipts, emails, and forged an attorney's signature on a legal contract to steal over $4,300 from the couple, police said.

She was released after posting $70,000 cash bail.
