PennDOT will close a section of Strasburg Pike between Lancaster and Strasburg this weekend for a pipe replacement project.
The road will be closed to through-traffic starting at 6 p.m. Friday, according to a PennDOT news release.
Strasburg Pike may reopen as early as Sunday evening if all goes well, according to the news release.
Until then, a detour which follows Pioneer Road, Lampeter Road and Route 741 will be in place.
This work is part of a $2.2 million project to repair a 4.7-mile section of Strasburg Pike from Route 462 through East and West Lampeter townships over Pequea Creek, continuing on Lancaster Avenue to Route 741 in Strasburg.
The work also includes paving a half-mile section of Route 462 from Greenfield Road to the Route 30 overpass.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
