HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -

Hershey Gardens has been around since 1937. The 23-acre attraction is not open during the cold winter months, but plans are in motion to build the Milton and Catherine Hershey Conservatory.

The project will allow Hershey Gardens to be open all year.

A $5.5 million capitol campaign is underway, and it is a combination of public contributions and charitable donations.

The 14,000 square-foot building will feature a welcome pavilion, an overlook area and terrace along with a horticultural and educational wing.  The big draw will be the indoor butterfly atrium, that will feature tropical butterflies from several countries.

The conservatory will be available to for private and evening functions. Groundbreaking will take place next spring and the attraction is expected to be completed in June 2016.
