PennDOT has postponed plans to close a section of Strasburg Pike between Lancaster and Strasburg this weekend for a pipe replacement project.
The work that was scheduled to start March 28 has been rescheduled for April 4, when the road will be closed to through-traffic starting at 6 p.m., according to a PennDOT news release.
Strasburg Pike may reopen as early as the evening of Sunday, April 6.
Until then, a detour which follows Pioneer Road, Lampeter Road and Route 741 will be in place.
The work is part of a $2.2 million project to repair a 4.7-mile section of Strasburg Pike from Route 462 through East and West Lampeter townships over Pequea Creek, continuing on Lancaster Avenue to Route 741 in Strasburg.
The work also includes paving a half-mile section of Route 462 from Greenfield Road to the Route 30 overpass.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
