A Lancaster man has been charged with raping a woman after breaking into her city home while she slept.
Shawn D. Jones, 43, was linked to the crime through DNA evidence, police said Friday.
Jones allegedly entered a home in the 100 block of Laurel Street on Dec. 15.
A woman who lived there told investigators she was awakened that morning by a stranger standing over her bed, police said.
She reported that she tried to call 911, but the intruder forced a cellphone from her hand and sexually assaulted her.
Jones was charged with one count each of rape, burglary and indecent assault, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and three counts of sexual assault.
He was already in Lancaster County Prison for unrelated offenses.
