GADSDEN, Ala. -- A Kentucky woman suspected of driving drunk when she dragged a man to death across a bridge and into a Waffle House parking lot has now been charged with manslaughter, police said Friday.

Keeley Jane Maddox, 28, was arrested Wednesday night for DUI and now faces a manslaughter charge in connection with the dragging death of 45-year-old Matthew Paul Goddard, who died from his injuries sustained in the incident.

According to police, Maddox was allegedly driving under the influence in her pickup truck when she drug Goddard across the Meighan Bridge before stopping in a Waffle House parking lot.

Goddard was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to UAB in Birmingham, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Maddox was arrested at the scene and booked into the Etowah County Jail, where she continues to be held without bond.

Gadsden police continue to investigate.
