Danville Bluegrass Band Wins Top Title at Bluegrass Festival

Danville, VA - The Danville bluegrass band Jus' Cauz just won first place at RenoFest 2014, a national Bluegrass competition.

The band is made up of a group of friends from Danville that share a love for bluegrass music.

The group formed in 2011 out of another local band that dissolved.

"David and myself... coming out of the other band, we needed a banjo player. So we contacted him contacted him, got together and just had couple jam sessions," said band member Mark Hudson.

They describe their sound as high energy. They practice once a week and perform regularly at local churches, community events, and bluegrass festivals.

The band released their first album last year called "Then and There", selling almost 1,000.

Their fans have a favorite on the album.

"I wish we had a nickel for every time we played "Carolina in The Pines," Hudson said.

Their most recent performance last week is one that the band members are still talking about. The band was invited to perform in front of hundreds at RenoFest 2014, a competition that honors legendary banjo player Don Reno.

Jus' Cauz brought home the top title and band members say they still can't believe it.

"Even if we hadn't won, the fact that so many people were saying you guys are great, we loved you, your music, your sound, that was verification that we were on the right track," said band member Mark Wallace.

The band says they've already had several requests for bookings just from the RenoFest performance. They are currently recording two new albums which are expected to be released later this year.
