Harrisburg crews on Monday repaired another water main break and
sinkhole in the 1400 block of S. 14th Street, the same neighborhood where other sinkholes opened earlier this month.
A Capital Region Water spokesman said crews were notified of the leak at around 7 a.m. Monday.
Repairs were completed and water service was restored by 2 p.m., but affected customers will have to boil their drinking water for at least the next two days.
Shannon Williams, executive director of Capital Region Water, said the company plans to connect customers to a new water main by the end of next week.
Williams said crews were able to respond quickly because they had been monitoring the area since the water main break that caused the earlier sinkholes.
Several homes were evacuated and natural gas service was shut off to the neighborhood for a day when the previous sinkholes opened March 20.
