LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Philadelphia man was jailed after Lancaster police said they found an estimated $27,000 worth of heroin hidden under the hood of his BMW.

Waldemar Mercado-Cruz, 33, was arrested Saturday night when officers found approximately 103 grams of suspected heroin stashed in the vehicle's engine compartment, police said.

Officers had been dispatched to the rear parking lot of the Santander Bank at 100 E. King Street when a caller reported that guns and drugs were being loaded into the BMW, police said.

The lot is posted against trespass and the bank was closed at the time, according to police.

Mercado-Cruz, who allowed officers to search the vehicle, was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin and trespass by motor vehicle.

He was sent to Lancaster County Prison on $150,000 bail.
