Woman waives hearing in prescription fraud case

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Philadelphia woman is headed to trial on charges she used fake prescriptions to get drugs from a Shippensburg pharmacy.

Dalia Torres, 43, waived her preliminary hearing Monday and allowed all charges against her to proceed to Cumberland County court, according to court records.

Police said Torres was arrested in Berks County last week on an arrest warrant stemming from three incidents at the Giant pharmacy in the 300 block of Baltimore Road between January 27 and February 8.

In each incident, a pharmacist confirmed the prescriptions were fraudulent after the woman left the store, police said.

Torres is being held in the Cumberland County Prison on $25,000 bail. Her formal arraignment is scheduled June 19.
