Decatur, AL -

Fire investigators in Decatur are still searching for a cause of the March 27 apartment fire that claimed the lives of two children.

Decatur Fire Marshall Jason Jones says witnesses are still being interviewed and hopes to have a cause of the deadly fire this week.

The scene of last week's fire at the West Ridge Apartments has turned into a memorial for 4-year-old Mar'Lena Miland and 2 year-old Dexter Miland Jr.  Flowers, balloons, and signs have been placed at the entrance to the complex.

Authorities believe the fire started in their bedroom while they were sleeping and were unable to escape. The parents and another sibling made it out, as did the family living in the apartment upstairs.  A third apartment was damaged, but the home owner was not home at the time.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer.
