Police begin lake search for body of Kortne Stouffer
GRANTVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -
State police began searching a Lebanon County lake Tuesday for the body of Kortne Stouffer, the Palmyra woman who went missing nearly two years ago.
A four-member boat crew used a sonar device to search Memorial Lake for about five hours. The search concluded after 2 p.m. without any indication of a body.
A search with a cadaver dog in the morning also had no results.
Attention turned to Memorial Lake State Park in East Hanover Township after an acquaintance of Stouffer came forward with claims that she heard Stouffer was murdered and her body may have been dumped in the 85-acre lake.
Lebanon County District Attorney Dave Arnold initially said he did not have enough evidence to support a search of the lake, but more than 5,000 people signed a petition calling for divers to investigate.
Stouffer was 21 years old when she disappeared from her Palmyra apartment in July 2012 after spending a night out with friends in Harrisburg.
