Landmark Enola restaurant to rise from ashes

ENOLA, Pa. (WHTM) -

Owners of a landmark Cumberland County restaurant have begun to rebuild following a devastating fire last year.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday a Visaggio's in Silver Spring Township.

The owners said they hope to reopen in September once the 200-year-old barn that housed the restaurant has been restored.

"We lost a lot of memories, but let me tell you something," Rosemary Visaggio Lumadue said. "I received hundreds of cards, pictures, saying to me, "Rosemary, we will build new memories."

Investigators have said the Nov. 10 fire began in the ceiling of a woman's restroom and may have been caused by an exhaust fan while the restaurant at 6990 Wertzville Road was closed.

The five-alarm blaze destroyed the kitchen and heavily damaged the barn and banquet hall.
