The repair work has been delayed to an undetermined date due to anticipated rain.
Road crews will begin repairing a sinkhole along Route 422 in Derry Township on Monday. The repairs are expected to slow things for the more than 15,000 drivers that use that stretch of road each day.
The work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. and PennDOT officials say drivers in both directions should be prepared for delays.
Crews will first need to excavate the sinkhole on Route 422, near East Derry Road at the east end of the township, to determine its actual size. They will then begin repairs, which could take most of the day to finish.
The traffic signal at the intersection will be flashing and flaggers will be put in place to assist drivers.
Officials said if you want to avoid a delay, you should find an alternate route.
